Abstract
In a wireless communication system comprising at least one evolved Node-B (eNB) and a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), a non-contention based (NCB) channel is established, maintained, and utilized. The NCB channel is allocated for use by one or more WTRUs in the system for utilization in a variety of functions, and the allocation is communicated to the WTRUs. The wireless communication system analyzes the allocation of the NCB channel as required, and the NCB channel is reallocated as required.
Claims20
A method implemented by wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- receiving a control message that provides a non-contention based (NCB) uplink control channel allocation, wherein the control message indicates a periodicity, sub-carrier resources, and code information associated with NCB uplink control channel resources allocated to the WTRU for transmitting requests for uplink shared channel resources;
- transmitting a burst comprising control information on the NCB uplink control channel resources, wherein presence of the burst on the NCB uplink control channel resources indicates that the WTRU is requesting uplink shared channel resources, and the control information comprises hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback;
- receiving a transmission associated with a WTRU identifier on a downlink control channel, wherein the transmission on the downlink control channel comprises an uplink shared channel grant;
- and
- transmitting data on the uplink shared channel in accordance with the uplink shared channel grant.
A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising a processor configured to:
- receive a control message that provides a non-contention based (NCB) uplink control channel allocation, wherein the control message indicates a periodicity, sub-carrier resources, and code information associated with NCB uplink control channel resources allocated to the WTRU for transmitting requests for uplink shared channel resources;
- transmit a burst comprising control information on the NCB uplink control channel resources, wherein presence of the burst on the NCB uplink control channel resources indicates that the WTRU is requesting uplink shared channel resources, and the control information comprises hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback;
- receive a transmission associated with a WTRU identifier on a downlink control channel, wherein the transmission on the downlink control channel comprises an uplink shared channel grant;
- and
- transmit data on the uplink shared channel in accordance with the uplink shared channel grant.
An evolved node-B (eNB) comprising a processor configured to:
- send a control message that provides a non-contention based (NCB) uplink control channel allocation to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), wherein the control message indicates a periodicity, sub-carrier resources, and code information associated with NCB uplink control channel resources allocated to the WTRU for transmitting requests for uplink shared channel resources;
- receive a burst comprising control information on the NCB uplink control channel resources, wherein presence of the burst on the NCB uplink control channel resources indicates that the WTRU is requesting uplink shared channel resources, and the control information comprises hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback;
- send a transmission associated with a WTRU identifier on a downlink control channel, wherein the transmission on the downlink control channel comprises an uplink shared channel grant;
- and
- receive data from the WTRU on the uplink shared channel in accordance with the uplink shared channel grant.
