A hearing aid system comprising at least a first hearing aid, wherein the first hearing aid is configured to establish a communication link over the internet with a remote entity based on a protocol stack, wherein the protocol stack includes an internet protocol, and the protocol stack is implemented in the first hearing aid.

A hearing aid system comprising at least a first hearing aid executing a first application, wherein
- the first hearing aid is configured to establish a communication link over the internet between the first application executed by the first hearing aid and a second application executed by a remote entity, the communication link being established based on a protocol stack,
- the protocol stack includes a combination of an internet protocol and a Constrained Transport Protocol with Security protocol, and
- the protocol stack is implemented in the first hearing aid.
