Sharing images based on face matching in a network

A non-transitory computer readable medium storing program codes that when executed by a processor of a first mobile phone associated with a first user render the first mobile phone operable to:

• receive first information from a second mobile phone over a first connection, the first information including a first facial template, the first facial template including numerical parameters determined from a first image, the first image being an image of a face of a second user of the second mobile phone captured by the second mobile phone;
• capture a second image in response to user inputs received from the first user;
• detect, using facial detection, a subject face corresponding to the second user appearing in the second image, the subject face defining the face of a person;
• match, using facial matching, the first facial template to a second facial template including numerical parameters determined from the second image, the match based on a computation including two or more of a face match probability, a position match probability, and an orientation match probability;
• and
• send to the second mobile phone automatically based on the match the second image over a second connection, wherein the first mobile phone and the second mobile phone are operable to share the second image without using either a cellular network or an infrastructure WIFI network and wherein the first connection and the second connection are both single hop connections.

A method of operating a first mobile phone associated with a first user comprising:

• sending first information over a first connection to a second mobile phone, the first information including a first facial template including numerical parameters determined from a first image captured by the first mobile phone in which a face of the first user of the first mobile phone appears;
• and
• receiving from the second mobile phone associated with a second user, a second image, the second image automatically sent from the second mobile phone over a second connection in response to determining a match between the first facial template and a second facial template, the second facial template including numerical parameters determined from a subject face corresponding to the first user appearing in the second image, the second image captured at the second mobile phone in response to user inputs received from the second user, the match determined by the second mobile phone based on a computation including two or more of a face match probability, a position match probability, and an orientation match probability,
• wherein the first mobile phone and the second mobile phone are operable to share the second image without using either a cellular network or an infrastructure WIFI network and wherein the first connection and the second connection are both single hop connections.

A method of operating a first mobile phone associated with a first user operable to:

• receiving first information from a second mobile phone over a first connection, the first information including a first facial template, the first facial template including numerical parameters determined from a first image, the first image being an image of a face of a second user of the second mobile phone captured by the second mobile phone;
• capture a second image in response to user inputs received from the first user;
• detecting, using facial detection, a subject face corresponding to the second user appearing in the second image, the subject face defining the face of a person;
• matching, using facial matching, the first facial template to a second facial template including numerical parameters determined from the second image, the match based on a computation including two or more of a face match probability, a position match probability, and an orientation match probability;
• and
• sending to the second mobile phone automatically based on the match the second image over a second connection, wherein the first mobile phone and the second mobile phone are operable to share the second image without using either a cellular network or an infrastructure WIFI network and wherein the first connection and the second connection are both single hop connections.
