Method for monitoring a data transmission system, data transmission system and motor vehicle

A data transmission system comprising a transmitting device for transmitting messages, a receiving device for receiving the messages, a data transmission means for transmitting the messages, and a monitoring device, the data transmission system configured to:

• transmit, by the monitoring device, a request message to the transmitting device and to the receiving device;
• transmit, by the transmitting device, a transmitter message via the data transmission means;
• generate, by the transmitting device, a transmitter response based on the request message and the transmitter message;
• transmit, by the transmitting device, the transmitter response to the monitoring device;
• receive, by the receiving device, a receiver message via the data transmission means;
• generate, by the receiving device, a receiver response based on the request message and the receiver message;
• transmit, by the receiving device, the receiver response to the monitoring device;
• receive, by the monitoring device, the transmitter response and the receiver response;
• and
• determine, by the monitoring device, compliance with a trigger condition based on the transmitter response and the receiver response, wherein the compliance indicates a monitoring event,
• wherein the data transmission means is a vehicle bus or a vehicle network of a motor vehicle.

A motor vehicle comprising a data transmission system, wherein the data transmission system comprises a transmitting device for transmitting messages, a receiving device for receiving the messages, a data transmission means for transmitting the messages, and a monitoring device, the motor vehicle configured to:

• transmit, by the monitoring device, a request message to the transmitting device and to the receiving device;
• transmit, by the transmitting device, a transmitter message via the data transmission means;
• generate, by the transmitting device, a transmitter response based on the request message and the transmitter message;
• transmit, by the transmitting device, the transmitter response to the monitoring device;
• receive, by the receiving device, a receiver message via the data transmission means;
• generate, by the receiving device, a receiver response based on the request message and the receiver message;
• transmit, by the receiving device, the receiver response to the monitoring device;
• receive, by the monitoring device, the transmitter response and the receiver response;
• and
• determine, by the monitoring device, compliance with a trigger condition based on the transmitter response and the receiver response, wherein the compliance indicates a monitoring event.
