Apparatus and method for determining maximum transport block size in communication system

A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the UE comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• at least one processor coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
• transmit, to a base station, capability information of the UE;
• and
• receive configuration information associated with a transport block size (TBS), and
• wherein the TBS is determined based on a value of NRE·R·Qm·v,
• wherein the NRE corresponds to a number of allocated resource elements, the R corresponds to a code rate, and the Qm corresponds to a modulation order, and the v corresponds to a number of allocated layers,
• wherein a maximum value of the TBS is considered for transport block over multiple slots (TBoMS),
• wherein the maximum value of the TBS is determined by limiting at least one of a value of the NRE, the Qm, or the v,
• wherein a maximum value of the NRE is determined based on a maximum value of the nPRB, and
• wherein the nPRB corresponds to a number of PRBs allocated to a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a slot.

A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• receiving, from a user equipment (UE), capability information of the UE;
• and
• transmitting configuration information associated with a transport block size (TBS), and
• wherein the TBS is determined based on a value of NRE·R·Qm·v,
• wherein the NRE corresponds to a number of allocated resource elements, the R corresponds to a code rate, and the Qm corresponds to a modulation order, and the v corresponds to a number of allocated layers,
• wherein a maximum value of the TBS is considered for transport block over multiple slots (TBoMS),
• wherein the maximum value of the TBS is determined by limiting at least one of a value of the NRE, the Qm, or the v,
• wherein a maximum value of the NRE is determined based on a maximum value of the nPRB, and
• wherein the nPRB corresponds to a number of PRBs allocated to a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a slot.

A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• at least one processor coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
• receive, from a user equipment (UE), capability information of the UE;
• and
• transmit configuration information associated with a transport block size (TBS),
• wherein the TBS is determined based on a value of NRE·R·Qm·v,
• wherein the NRE corresponds to a number of allocated resource elements, the R corresponds to a code rate, and the Qm corresponds to a modulation order,
• and the v corresponds to a number of allocated layers,
• wherein a maximum value of the TBS is considered for transport block over multiple slots (TBoMS),
• wherein the maximum value of the TBS is determined by limiting at least one of a value of the NRE, the Qm, or the v,
• wherein a maximum value of the NRE is determined based on a maximum value of the nPRB, and
• wherein the nPRB corresponds to a number of PRBs allocated to a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a slot.
