Abstract
Dual mode T-switches driven by at least one low-impedance switch driver, to connect at least four wires of a multiwire bus to a multi-input comparator (MIC) of a plurality of MICs in a first mode of Orthogonal Vector Signaling operation, and in a full-duplex mode of operation, using the low-impedance switch driver to disable a corresponding subset of T-switches to selectively disconnect a pair of wires of the multiwire bus from the MIC while using low-impedance enable signal paths in the low-impedance switch drivers to shunt capacitively-coupled interfering outbound signals received at the MIC from the selectively disconnected pair of wires in the full-duplex mode of operation.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- enabling a set of T-switches, using at least one low-impedance switch driver, to connect at least four wires of a multi-wire bus to a multi-input comparator (MIC) of a plurality of MICs;
- receiving, in an ensemble non-return-to-zero half-duplex mode of operation, a set of at least four input signals at the MIC and responsively generating a respective linear combination of the set of at least four input signals to detect an orthogonal sub-channel of a plurality of mutually orthogonal sub-channels, each input signal received via a respective wire of the multi-wire bus;
- initiating a non-return-to-zero full-duplex mode of operation by using the low-impedance switch driver to disable a corresponding subset of T-switches to selectively disconnect a pair of wires of the multi-wire bus from the MIC;
- using the selectively disconnected pair of wires to transmit a differential outbound signal;
- shunting capacitively-coupled interfering outbound signals received at the MIC from the selectively disconnected pair of wires in the full-duplex mode of operation via low-impedance enable signal paths in the low-impedance switch drivers;
- and
- generating a differential output in the full-duplex mode of operation by forming a comparison of the input signals received on at least two remaining wires of the multi-wire bus connected to the MIC in the full-duplex mode of operation.
An apparatus comprising:
- a multi-input comparator (MIC) configured to receive, in a half-duplex mode of operation detecting a plurality of mutually orthogonal sub-channels, a set of at least four input signals and to responsively generate a respective linear combination of the set of at least four input signals to detect an orthogonal sub-channel of a plurality of mutually orthogonal sub-channels, each input signal received via a respective wire of a multi-wire bus;
- a set of T-switches driven by a set of corresponding low-impedance switch drivers configured to initiate a full-duplex mode of operation by selectively disconnecting a pair of wires of the multi-wire bus from the MIC responsive to corresponding enable signals provided via low-impedance enable signal paths in the corresponding low-impedance switch drivers;
- a set of drivers configured to transmit a differential outbound signal in the full-duplex mode on the selectively disconnected pair of wires;
- the low impedance switch drivers configured to shunt capacitively-coupled interference signals from the differential outbound signal on the pair of wires in the full-duplex mode of operation via the low-impedance enable signal paths;
- and
- the MIC configured to generate a differential output in the full-duplex mode of operation by forming a comparison of inbound signals received on at least two remaining wires of the of the multi-wire bus connected to the MIC in the full-duplex mode of operation.
