Abstract
Aspects of the present invention relate to methods and systems for the see-through computer display systems with an extended field of view.
Claims20
A wearable device comprising:
- a display having an edge region corresponding to an edge of a field of view and a center region corresponding to a center of the field of view;
- one or more eye-imaging components configured to capture an image of an eye of a user;
- a first optic configured to project a first portion of an image in the center region;
- a second optic configured to project the first portion of the image in the edge region;
- and
- a see-through panel configured to:
- receive the first portion of the image via one or more of the first optic and the second optic, and
- present the image concurrently with presenting a view of an environment of the user, the image comprising the first portion,
- wherein:
- the first optic is configured to project the first portion of the image in the center region in accordance with a determination that a position of the eye of the user corresponds to the center region, the determination of the position of the eye of the user based on the image of the eye;
- the second optic is configured to project the first portion of the image in the edge region in accordance with a determination that the position of the eye does not correspond to the center region;
- and
- at least one of the first optic and the second optic is configured to adjust a relative proximity of the center region and the edge region based on the position of the eye of the user.

A method comprising:
- projecting, by a first optic of a wearable device, a first portion of an image in a center region of a display of the wearable device, the center region corresponding to a center of a field of view;
- determining a position of an eye of a user;
- adjusting, via at least one of the first optic and a second optic, a relative proximity of the of the center region and the edge region based on the position of the eye of the user;
- in accordance with a determination that the position of the eye of the user corresponds to the center region, continuing to project by the first optic the first portion of the image in the center region of the display;
- in accordance with a determination that the position of the eye of the user corresponds to an edge region, projecting, by a second optic of the wearable device, the first portion of the image in the edge region of the display, the edge region corresponding to an edge of the field of view;
- receiving, at a see-through panel of the wearable device, via one or more of the first optic and the second optic, the first portion of the image;
- and
- presenting, via the see-through panel, the image comprising the first portion, wherein the image is presented concurrently with a view of an environment of the user.
5 more elements
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:
- projecting, by a first optic of a wearable device, a first portion of an image in a center region of a display of the wearable device, the center region corresponding to a center of a field of view;
- determining a position of an eye of a user;
- adjusting, via at least one of the first optic and a second optic, a relative proximity of the of the center region and the edge region based on the position of the eye of the user;
- in accordance with a determination that the position of the eye of the user corresponds to the center region, continuing to project by the first optic the first portion of the image in the center region of the display;
- in accordance with a determination that the position of the eye of the user corresponds to an edge region, projecting, by a second optic of the wearable device, the first portion of the image in the edge region of the display, the edge region corresponding to an edge of the field of view;
- receiving, at a see-through panel of the wearable device, via one or more of the first optic and the second optic, the first portion of the image;
- and
- presenting, via the see-through panel, the image comprising the first portion, wherein the image is presented concurrently with a view of an environment of the user.
