A storage management method comprising:

• acquiring a new dataset when a writable area included in a normal area in a plurality of blocks included in a flash memory is larger than the new dataset, the writable area including unnecessary datasets, each of the plurality of blocks including a normal area configured to store one or more datasets and a reserved area in which dataset storage is prohibited, a ratio of a size of the reserved area to a size of the normal area being set to maintain a data transfer rate of the flash memory at a predetermined level;
• when the new dataset is to be acquired, copying non-unnecessary datasets from the normal area of a specific block including the unnecessary datasets to the normal area of another block, and deleting all datasets included in the normal area of the specific block;
• and
• storing the new dataset in the normal area of the specific block from which all the datasets are deleted.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-readable instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to perform a method, comprising:

• acquiring a new dataset when a writable area included in a normal area in a plurality of blocks included in a flash memory is larger than the new dataset, the writable area including unnecessary datasets, each of the plurality of blocks including a normal area configured to store datasets and a reserved area in which dataset storage is prohibited, a ratio of a size of the reserved area to a size of the normal area being set to maintain a data transfer rate of the flash memory at a predetermined level;
• when the new dataset is to be acquired, copying non-unnecessary datasets from the normal area of a specific block including the unnecessary datasets to the normal area of another block, and deleting all datasets included in the normal area of the specific block;
• and
• storing the new dataset in the normal area of the specific block from which all the datasets are deleted.
