Low mobility assistance for autonomous vehicles passengers

A system comprising:

• a memory;
• one or more processors coupled to the memory, the one or more processors configured to:
• determine, based on map data or sensor data collected by one or more autonomous vehicles, a height of a curb of a sidewalk section relative to at least one of a surface of a ground that is adjacent to the curb or a portion of an autonomous vehicle, wherein the sidewalk section is associated with a potential location for pick-up or drop-off of a passenger by the autonomous vehicle;
• based on the height of the curb of the sidewalk section associated with the potential location for pick-up or drop-off of the passenger, select the potential location for pick-up or drop-off of the passenger by the autonomous vehicle;
• and
• navigate the autonomous vehicle to the potential location for pick-up or drop-off of the passenger.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions, the instructions, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to:

• determine, based on map data or sensor data collected by one or more autonomous vehicles, a height of a curb of a sidewalk section relative to at least one of a surface of a ground that is adjacent to the curb or a portion of an autonomous vehicle, wherein the sidewalk section is associated with a potential location for pick-up or drop-off of a passenger by the autonomous vehicle;
• based on the height of the curb of the sidewalk section associated with the potential location for pick-up or drop-off of the passenger, select the potential location for pick-up or drop-off of the passenger by the autonomous vehicle;
• and
• navigate the autonomous vehicle to the potential location for pick-up or drop-off of the passenger.
