Ultrasound sensor array for parking assist systems

An ultrasound sensor, comprising:

• a frame, wherein the frame includes an outer perimeter, an inner perimeter, and a vertical midsection extending away from a top surface of the frame and a horizontal midsection, wherein the horizontal midsection extends across the inner perimeter of the frame and the vertical midsection separates a top row and bottom row of transducer elements;
• and
• four or more transducer elements, wherein the four or more transducer elements are located within the inner perimeter, wherein the four or more transducer elements are configured to each activate a transmit mode and receive mode, wherein the transmit mode is configured to transmit a signal and the receive mode is configured to receive a signal, wherein a first transducer element activates the transmit mode when a second transducer element does not activate the transmit mode, wherein the first and second transducer element are further configured to adjust an angle of attack associated with the transmit mode and the receive mode, wherein the first transducer element and the second transducer element are configured to operate out-of-phase.

An ultrasound sensor, comprising:

• a frame, wherein the frame includes an outer perimeter, an inner perimeter, and a horizontal midsection, wherein the horizontal midsection extends across the inner perimeter;
• and
• two or more transducer elements, wherein the two or more transducer elements are located within the inner perimeter, and include one or more membranes that include a bottom portion that includes a first piezoelectric layer and second piezoelectric layer separated from one another, wherein the two or more transducer elements are configured to each activate a transmit mode and receive mode, wherein the transmit mode is configured to transmit a signal and the receive mode is configured to receive a signal, wherein a first transducer element activates the transmit mode when a second transducer element does not activate the transmit mode, wherein the first and second transducer element are further configured to adjust a field-of-view angle associated with the transmit mode and the receive mode, wherein the first transducer element and the second transducer element are configured to operate out-of-phase.
