Apparatus for removing liquid contents of a container

A cap for a container for liquid to be used in a diagnostic analyzer, the cap comprising:

• a lid having a first side and a second side opposite the first side and an opening extending between the first and second sides;
• an inner annular sidewall extending from the first side of the lid, the inner annular sidewall having internal threads to be engaged with threads on the container;
• a key ring extending from the second side of the lid. the key ring surrounding the opening, the key ring having a shape corresponding to a key slot of a cradle of the diagnostic analyzer to enable the cradle to drain the liquid from the container when the container with the cap is inserted into the cradle;
• a flange extending radially outward from the inner annular sidewall, the flange to be engaged by a latch when the cap is inserted into the cradle to lock the cap in the cradle;
• and
• an outer annular sidewall extending from the flange, the inner annular sidewall within a diameter of the outer annular sidewall and concentric with the outer annular sidewall.

A cap for a container having liquid to be used in a diagnostic analyzer, the cap comprising:

• a lid having an opening;
• an inner annular sidewall extending from the lid;
• a flange extending radially outward from the inner annular sidewall;
• an outer annular sidewall extending from the flange, such that the inner annular sidewall is within a diameter of the outer annular sidewall and is concentric with the outer annular sidewall;
• and
• a key ring extending from the outer annular sidewall, the key ring having a shape corresponding to a key slot of a cradle of the diagnostic analyzer to enable the cradle to drain the liquid from the container when the container with the cap is when inserted into the cradle.

A cap for a container used for diagnostic analyzer liquid, the cap comprising:

• an outer wall;
• an inner wall positioned within a diameter of the outer wall;
• a surface coupled to the inner wall;
• a key ring extending from the surface coupled to the inner wall or from the outer wall;
• an opening at a center of the cap,
• the opening extending through the surface, and
• the key ring, inner wall, and outer wall surrounding the opening;
• and
• a flange extending orthogonally from the outer wall, the flange having a flat surface.
