## Abstract

An electrically isolating gasket is disclosed wherein a coating layer is disposed on at least one conductive surface, and in some embodiments, on all surfaces or at least all of the conductive surfaces. The electrically isolating gasket includes a core gasket component, a ring seal component, and a non-conductive inner seal component. The coating layer can be, for example, polyimide, polyamide, ceramic, and aluminum oxide.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An electrically isolating gasket configured to be compressed between opposed pipe segments, the electrically isolating gasket comprising:
the electrically isolating gasket configured to be compressed between opposing flanges of an assembly of opposing pipe segments;
the electrically isolating gasket comprising:
a metal core gasket having a first height component, the core gasket component having a disc shape with an inner surface having a shape and a defining a first inner diameter;
a non-conductive inner seal component having a third height greater than the first height, the non-conductive inner seal component having an inner surface defining a second inner diameter, the non-conductive inner seal component having an outer surface; and
a metal ring seal component having a second heigh such that the second height is greater than the first height and less than the third height interspersed between metal core gasket and the non-conductive inner seal element, the ring seal component have an outer surface shaped to cooperatively engage the shape of the inner surface of the core gasket component and being coupled to the non-conductive inner seal element on a side opposite the outer surface wherein the side defines a third inner diameter that is less than the first inner diameter and greater than the second inner diameter; and
a dielectric coating spray coated on the metal core gasket and the metal ring seal.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein the core gasket component is made from stainless steel.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein all the metal of the core gasket and the metal of the ring seal is selected from a group of metals consisting of steel or a steel alloy.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein the ring seal component is made from stainless steel.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein the non-conductive inner seal component is a fluoropolymer.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 5, wherein the fluoropolymer is polytetrafluoroethylene.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein, wherein the dielectric coating material is polyimide.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 7, wherein the coating has a uniform thickness.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 8, wherein the thickness is less than 0.381 mm.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 8, wherein the thickness is less than 0.127 mm.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein the inner surface of the non-conductive inner seal component forms a chevron shape.

### Claim 12 (depends on 4)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 4, wherein the ring seal comprises a pair of seal arms extending from the outer surface to an opening such that the pair of seal arms have an apex between the outer surface and the opening such that the seal arms are configured to form a seal interface with the opposed flanged surfaces.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 12, wherein the ring seal is a C-ring.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The electrically isolating gasket of claim 1, wherein the side of the metal ring seal defines an opening to receive a protrusion on the outer surface of the non-conductive inner seal component.
