## Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions of the invention comprise functionalized lactone derivatives having a disease-modifying action in the treatment of diseases associated with dysregulation of 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 7 activity.

### Claim 1

A compound according to the following formula,
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein
n is 2;
each of R1a and R1b is C1-6 linear alkyl; and
R3 is optionally substituted heteroaryl.

The compound of claim 1, wherein each of R1a and R1b is ethyl.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The compound of claim 1, wherein R3 is optionally substituted pyridyl.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The compound of claim 3, wherein R3 is unsubstituted pyridyl.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The compound of claim 3, wherein R3 is substituted pyridyl.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The compound of claim 1, wherein R3 is optionally substituted 2-pyridyl, optionally substituted 3-pyridyl, or optionally substituted 4-pyridyl.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising
a compound according to claim 1, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
