## Abstract

The invention relates to aqueous skin cleansing compositions. Specific amounts and chain length of acyl glycinate and acyl glutamate when used in specified ratios, have been found to unexpectedly enhance lather volume and texture, as well as provide superior mildness.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An aqueous skin cleansing composition comprising:
a. 2 to 10% by wt. of a C10, acyl glycinate;
b. 5 to 20% by wt. C14 acyl glutamate; and
c. additional anionic, non-ionic, or amphoteric/zwitterionic surfactants or mixtures thereof
wherein the ratio of C14 acyl glutamate to C10 acyl glycinate is 0.8 to 5 and the composition has less than 1% by weight sulfate-based surfactant.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1, wherein amphoteric surfactant is present and the amphoteric surfactant comprises sodium cocoampho monoacetate or diacetate.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1, wherein zwitterionic surfactant is present, and the zwitterionic surfactant comprises cocoamidopropyl betaine.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises cationic conditioning polymers.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The composition according to claim 4 wherein the cationic conditioning polymer is guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises cellulose ethers that include methylcellulose (MC) or hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) polymers.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1, wherein cations of C10 glycinate and C14 acyl glutamate are sodium, potassium, ammonium or substituted ammonium cations or mixtures thereof.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1, wherein less than 3% wt. soap is present in the composition.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 further comprising from 1 to 25% by weight C8 to C28 fatty acid soap.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The composition according to claim 9 wherein the soap makes up 5 to 20% by wt. of the composition and is a C10 to C20 fatty acid soap.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The composition according to claim 10 wherein up to 75% by weight of the soap is a potassium, magnesium or triethanolamine soap.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises niacinamide, salicylic acid, vitamin C, retinyl ester or a sunscreen.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein sulfate-based surfactants are not present in the composition.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein glycinate and glutamate make up 50% by weight or more of total surfactant in the composition.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises an acyl isethionate.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises a taurate.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises retinyl propionate, stearic acid, and glycerin.

### Claim 18 (depends on 1)

The composition according to claim 1 wherein the composition has a pH from 6.5 to 7.1.
