determining a region of interest in the accessed current image and image space based at least on the determined location of the instrument within the image space;
analyzing image data of the current image with at least a bubble image library to determine if a bubble is present in the current image within the region of interest;
identifying image portions of the analyzed current image that include the bubble;
generating a comparison image by removing the identified image portions in the current image that include the bubble; and
outputting feedback to a user in light of the comparison image regarding continuing with a procedure performed by the instrument.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising:
tracking the instrument within the subject space with a tracking system, the location of the instrument is a tracked location; and
registering an image space of the current image to the subject space of the subject;
wherein the location of the instrument within the image space is determined based on the tracked location of the instrument.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, further comprising:
operating the tracking system to determine the tracked location separate from the imaging system.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein analyzing the image data of the current image to determine if the bubble is present in the current image within the region of interest, comprises:
comparing at least one bubble image to the current image;
determining a correlation between the at least one bubble image and the current image; and
outputting a correlation value based on the determined correlation.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, further comprising:
accessing the bubble image library including a plurality of bubble images.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein analyzing the image data of the current image to determine if the bubble is present in the current image within the region of interest, further comprises:
selecting a first region within the region of interest;
performing a pairwise comparison of voxels from the at least one bubble image to the selected first region;
selecting a second region within the region of interest; and
performing a pairwise comparison of voxels from the at least one bubble image to the selected second region.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein tracking the location of at least the portion of the instrument positioned within the subject in the subject space defined by the subject, comprises:
associating a tracking device with the instrument; and
operating a tracking system to track the tracking device associated with the instrument.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein determining the region of interest relative to the determined location of the instrument within the image space, comprises:
determining a dimension of the region of interest; and
centering the region of interest on the location of the instrument.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the location of the instrument includes the location of only a portion of the instrument.

### Claim 10

A system to select a region for determining a presence of a bubble in an image, comprising:
a navigation system operable to:
determine a location of an instrument positioned within a subject in a subject space defined by the subject,
access a current image of the subject having an image space that is registered to the subject space, and
determine a location of the instrument within an image space; and
an image analysis processor system operable to execute instructions to:
identify a region of interest relative to the determined location of the instrument within the image space,
analyze image data of the current image with at least a bubble image library to determine if a bubble is present in the current image within the region of interest,
identify image portions of the analyzed current image that include the bubble,
