A projection video display apparatus with variable light adjustment for multi-screen projection mode, comprising:
- a video input interface configured to input an input video;
- a light source;
- a display panel configured to allow incidence of light generated by the light source thereon and to make the light pass therethrough or reflect thereon;
- a projection optical system configured to project the light from the display panel as a display video;
- a movable light shielding plate configured to shield a light on an optical path of an optical system of the projection video display apparatus and to change a light shielding amount of the optical system;
- a communication interface configured to communicate with another projection video display apparatus;
- and
- a controller configured to execute at least two types of variable light adjusting controls, the two types of variable light adjusting controls including a first variable light adjusting control to adjust brightness of the light source, and a second variable light adjusting control to adjust a light shielding amount of the optical system by the movable light shielding plate,
- wherein a plurality of display modes controlled by the controller are prepared and one display mode of the plurality of display modes can be selected based on a menu screen operation,
- wherein the plurality of display modes of the display video controlled by the controller include:
- a first display mode which corresponds to the multi-screen projection mode, in the multi-screen projection mode where a plurality of projection video display apparatuses, including the projection video display apparatus and the another projection video display apparatus, projects display videos to be combined as one video, the controller is configured to execute the first variable light adjusting control based on an first control information which is transmitted from the another projection video display apparatus and received by the communication interface, so as to make the first variable light adjusting control in the projection video display apparatus inter-locked with variable light adjusting control of adjusting brightness of a light source of the another projection video display apparatus, and the controller is configured to execute the second variable light adjusting control based on an second control information which is transmitted from the another projection video display apparatus and received by the communication interface, so as to make the second variable light adjusting control in the projection video display apparatus inter-locked with variable light adjusting control of adjusting a light shielding amount of an optical system in the another projection video display apparatus by a movable light shielding plate of the another projection video display apparatus;
- and
- a second display mode where the controller is configured to make neither the first variable light adjusting control nor the second variable light adjusting control inter-locked with any one of variable light adjusting controls of the another projection video display apparatus.
