Abstract
A method includes reading a digital signal from a sensing device in an area of a structure, where the digital signal is configured to be present periodically. A trailing edge of the digital signal is determined. An analog signal from the sensing device is read, where the analog signal includes an output from a sensor included in the sensing device, and where the sensor is configured to detect an aspect of an environment. The analog signal is read after the trailing edge of the digital signal.
Claims20
A system for detecting dangerous conditions in a structure and determining one or more evacuation routes for occupants of the structure, the system comprising:
- a sensory node, the sensory node comprising:
- a sensor;
- a power source;
- a transceiver;
- a processor in electrical communication with the power source;
- and
- a memory, the memory comprising instructions which cause the processor to:
- receive a condition value from the sensor;
- transmit, using the transceiver, a digital signal, the digital signal comprising a trailing edge;
- transmit after the trailing edge of the digital signal, using the transceiver, an analog signal representing the condition value;
- transmit a sensory node identifier;
- a decision node, the decision node comprising:
- a power source;
- a transceiver;
- a processor in electrical connection with the power source;
- and
- a memory, the memory comprising instructions which cause the processor to:
- receive from the sensory node, a first signal and in response to the first signal, sending a signal to the sensory node that changes a behavior of the sensory node, the first signal comprising a digital component and an analog component, the analog component located after a trailing edge of the digital signal;
- identify a first hazardous condition from a trend identified using the analog signal component and previously received analog signal components from the sensory node;
- using the sensory node identifier, identify the location of the sensory node from which the first signal was received;
- receive occupancy data from the sensory node;
- determine an occupancy level in the vicinity of the sensory node;
- determine a first evacuation route from the location of the sensory node to an exit from the structure wherein the first evacuation route is determined from the layout of the structure and at least partially using the occupancy level;
- and
- determine a second evacuation route from the location of the sensory node to an exit from the structure if the first evacuation route cannot accommodate a number of occupants identified by the occupancy level.
A method of detecting a dangerous condition in a structure and determining one or more evacuation routes for occupants of the structure, comprising:
- receiving a first signal from a first sensory;
- receiving from the first sensory node, the first signal, the first signal comprising a digital component and an analog component, the analog component located after a trailing edge of the digital signal,
- sending a control signal to the sensory node in response to the first signal that changes a behavior of the sensory node;
- transmitting by the first sensory node, a sensory node identifier identifying a location of the condition sensor;
- receiving by a first processor, the first signal, the analog component representing condition data;
- identifying by the first processor, a hazardous condition using the analog component and previously received analog components from the first sensory node;
- receiving by the first processor, the sensor identifier and identifying the location of the hazardous condition based on the location of the first sensory node;
- receiving by the first processor, occupancy data from the first sensory node;
- determining an occupancy level at the location of the first sensory node;
- determining a first evacuation route from the location of the first sensory node to an exit from the structure wherein the first evacuation route is determined at least partially based on the occupancy level;
- and
- determining a second evacuation route from the location of the first sensory node to an exit from the structure if the first evacuation route cannot accommodate the occupancy level.
A method of detecting dangerous conditions in a structure and determining one or more evacuation routes for occupants of the structure, comprising:
- receiving a condition value from a first condition sensor located at a sensory node;
- transmitting by the sensory node, a digital signal, the digital signal comprising a trailing edge;
- transmitting by the sensory node, after the trailing edge of the digital signal, an analog signal representing the condition value;
- transmitting by the sensory node, a sensory node identifier identifying a location of the first condition sensor;
- receiving by a decision node, the analog signal;
- identifying a hazardous condition from the analog signal;
- sending, by the decision node, a control signal to the sensory node in response to the first signal;
- receiving, by the sensory node, the control signal, the sensory node changing a listening schedule in response to the control signal;
- receiving by the decision node, the sensor identifier and identifying the location of the hazardous condition;
- determining an occupancy level at the location of the hazardous condition;
- determining a first evacuation route portion from the location of the hazardous condition to first intermediate point in the structure;
- determining a second evacuation route portion from the first intermediate point to a second intermediate point;
- and
- continuing to determine evacuation route portions until an evacuation route portion begins at an intermediate point and ends at an exit from the structure.
