Abstract
Disclosed is a compression system for compressing image data. The compression system receives an uncompressed image file with data points that are defined with absolute values for elements representing the data point position in a space. The compression system stores the absolute values defined for a first data point in a compressed image file, determines a difference between the absolute values of the first data point and the absolute values of a second data point, derives a relative value for the absolute values of the second data point from the difference, and stores the relative value in place of the absolute values of the second data point in the compressed image file.

A method comprising:
- receiving a compressed image file comprising image data that is encoded as a plurality of absolute values and a plurality of relative values, wherein an absolute value from the plurality of absolute values defines one or more of a position or a visual characteristic for an image construct in a three-dimensional (“3D”) space, and wherein a relative value from the plurality of relative values derives one or more of a position or a visual characteristic for an image construct in the 3D space based on one of the plurality of absolute values;
- selecting first image data from the compressed image file;
- determining that the first image data corresponds to a particular absolute value from the plurality of absolute values;
- generating a first construct in the 3D space with one or more of a position or a visual characteristic that is defined directly from the particular absolute value;
- selecting second image data from the compressed image file;
- determining that the second image data corresponds to a particular relative value from the plurality of relative values;
- generating a second construct in the 3D space with one or more of a position or a visual characteristic that is derived from adjusting the particular absolute value with the particular relative value.
A system comprising:
- one or more hardware processors configured to:
- receive a compressed image file comprising image data that is encoded as a plurality of absolute values and a plurality of relative values, wherein an absolute value from the plurality of absolute values defines one or more of a position or a visual characteristic for an image construct in a three-dimensional (“3D”) space, and wherein a relative value from the plurality of relative values derives one or more of a position or a visual characteristic for an image construct in the 3D space based on one of the plurality of absolute values;
- select first image data from the compressed image file;
- determine that the first image data corresponds to a particular absolute value from the plurality of absolute values;
- generate a first construct in the 3D space with one or more of a position or a visual characteristic that is defined directly from the particular absolute value;
- select second image data from the compressed image file;
- determine that the second image data corresponds to a particular relative value from the plurality of relative values;
- generate a second construct in the 3D space with one or more of a position or a visual characteristic that is derived from adjusting the particular absolute value with the particular relative value.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that, when executed by one or more hardware processors of a compression system, cause the compression system to perform operations comprising:
- receive a compressed image file comprising image data that is encoded as a plurality of absolute values and a plurality of relative values, wherein an absolute value from the plurality of absolute values defines one or more of a position or a visual characteristic for an image construct in a three-dimensional (“3D”) space, and wherein a relative value from the plurality of relative values derives one or more of a position or a visual characteristic for an image construct in the 3D space based on one of the plurality of absolute values;
- select first image data from the compressed image file;
- determine that the first image data corresponds to a particular absolute value from the plurality of absolute values;
- generate a first construct in the 3D space with one or more of a position or a visual characteristic that is defined directly from the particular absolute value;
- select second image data from the compressed image file;
- determine that the second image data corresponds to a particular relative value from the plurality of relative values;
- generate a second construct in the 3D space with one or more of a position or a visual characteristic that is derived from adjusting the particular absolute value with the particular relative value.
