Abstract
The fiber optic adapter according to the present disclosure may include an adapter housing defining a channel to receive a fiber optic connector having one or more ferrules, and a first shutter and a second shutter attached to opposing sidewalls of the adapter housing. Each of the first and second shutters have a first member and a second member. The first member is configured to extend into the channel. the first members of the first and second shutters are sized and shaped to cooperatively close the channel. At least one of the first member is resiliently movable upon insertion of the fiber optic connector into the channel to open the channel. The fiber optic adapter may prevent the entry of the dust and other debris.
Claims19
A fiber optic adapter comprising:
- an adapter housing having two opposing sidewalls and defining a channel therebetween to receive a fiber optic connector having one or more ferrules;
- and
- a first shutter and a second shutter attached to opposing sidewalls of the adapter housing, each of the first and second shutters having a first member and a second member, the first member configured to extend into the channel,
- wherein the first members of the first and second shutters are sized and shaped to cooperatively close the channel, at least one of the first members being resiliently movable upon insertion of the fiber optic connector into the channel to open the channel, and each second member is configured to be secured to each of the sidewalls of the adapter housing and extend outside of the channel.
A fiber optic adapter comprising:
- an adapter housing having two opposing sidewalls and defining a channel therebetween to receive a fiber optic connector having one or more ferrules;
- and
- a first shutter and a second shutter attached to opposing sidewalls of the adapter housing, each of the first and second shutters having a first member and a second member, the first member configured to extend into the channel,
- wherein the first members of the first and second shutters are sized and shaped to cooperatively close the channel, at least one of the first members being resiliently movable upon insertion of the fiber optic connector into the channel to open the channel,
- wherein the second member is provided with a cut-out and the adapter housing is provided with a protrusion received in the cut-out.
A fiber optic adapter comprising:
- an adapter housing having two opposing sidewalls and defining a channel therebetween to receive a fiber optic connector having one or more ferrules;
- and
- a first shutter and a second shutter attached to opposing sidewalls of the adapter housing, each of the first and second shutters having a first member and a second member, the first member configured to extend into the channel,
