A brake lever for a drum brake arrangement, said brake lever being designed for transmitting the movement of a cylinder rod to a brake shaft, wherein the brake lever comprises a first portion delimiting a hole for fitting the brake shaft, and a second portion which is configured to be pivotally connected to the cylinder rod, and wherein the first portion and the second portion are offset from each other with respect to a central axis of the hole,

• the brake lever further includes a central portion extending in a straight line between the first and second portions, the central portion extending obliquely with respect to the second portion, a stiffening member that extends along a direction contained inside a plane perpendicular to the central axis of the hole, and includes an orifice for fitting the brake shaft, and an automatic or manual slack adjuster,
• wherein the stiffening member is spaced apart from the slack adjuster.
