Compact low noise efficient blower for CPAP devices

A blower for providing a supply of air at positive pressure in a range of approximately 2cmH2O to 30cmH20, the blower comprising:

• a motor having a shaft,
• wherein the shaft includes a shaft axis;
• at least one impeller attached to the shaft;
• and
• a stationary component including a structure that surrounds the at least one impeller and the motor, the stationary component comprising an inlet and an outlet between which forms a flow path for a flow of air,
• wherein the shaft axis, the inlet, and the outlet are co-axial,
• wherein the motor includes a first side proximal the inlet and a second side distal the inlet,
• wherein the stationary component is configured to direct the flow of air to flow around the motor from the first side to the second side, and
• wherein at least a portion of the motor is configured to be exposed to the flow path extending from the inlet to the outlet such that the flow of air along the flow path allows cooling of the motor as air flows through the stationary component.
