Abstract
Materials for binding per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are disclosed. A fluidic device comprising the materials for detection and quantification of PFAS in a sample is disclosed. The fluidic device may be configured for multiplexed analyses. Also disclosed are methods for sorbing and remediating PFAS in a sample. The sample may be groundwater containing, or suspected of containing, one or more PFAS.

A device, comprising:
- an upper planar substrate;
- a lower planar substrate;
- a thin film between the lower planar substrate and the upper planar substrate, the thin film including a channel cut therethrough;
- a plurality of probes disposed in the channel, each probe comprising a metal-organic framework (MOF) covalent organic framework (COF), covalent organic polymer (COP), zeolite, mesoporous silica or hierarchical porous carbon (HPC);
- a sensing region comprising
- an upper sensing area comprising a plurality of spaced-apart electrodes disposed on a lower surface of the upper planar substrate,
- a lower sensing area comprising a plurality of spaced-apart electrodes disposed on an upper surface of the lower planar substrate, wherein the electrodes are non-planar with the electrodes on the lower surface of the upper planar substrate when the device is assembled, and
- a portion of the channel positioned between the upper sensing area and the lower sensing area when the device is assembled, the portion of the channel including one or more probes of the plurality of probes disposed therein;
- an upper conductive connector connected to the upper sensing area;
- a lower conductive connector connected to the lower sensing area;
- an inlet hole defined by the upper planar substrate, the inlet hole aligned with a first end of the channel;
- and
- an outlet hole defined by the upper planar substrate, the outlet hole aligned with a second end of the channel.
