Aggregation of frames for transmission in a wireless communication network

A method in a wireless communication network that operates according to a communication protocol, the method comprising:

• transmitting, by a first communication device, an announcement of support by the first communication device of aggregating buffer status report (BSRP) trigger frames and other frames in aggregate media access control protocol data units (A-MPDUs);
• responsive to transmitting announcement, receiving, at a first communication device, a first packet from a second communication device, the first packet having an aggregate media access control protocol data unit (A-MPDU) that includes:
• a BSRP trigger frame that is configured to prompt the first communication device to transmit a second packet having a response to the trigger frame, and
• another frame separate from the BSRP trigger frame;
• determining, at the first communication device, that the other frame is configured to prompt the first communication device to transmit an acknowledgement of the other frame;
• determining, at the first communication device, that the first communication device shall transmit the acknowledgment of the other frame prior to transmitting the response to the BSRP trigger frame;
• and
• in response to i) receiving the BSRP trigger frame, and ii) receiving the other frame, transmitting the acknowledgment of the other frame prior to transmitting the response to the BSRP trigger frame.
