Abstract
A secure tiered, robust, and deterministic converged communications architecture with the capacity to support a plurality of power distribution automation devices/components with fiber-enabled fail-over protection is described.
Claims19
A method comprising:
- determining, based on a first communication path configured for optical communication and switching with linear protection, a fault associated with the first communication path, wherein the first communication path comprises first optical nodes and an end point;
- causing, based on the fault, transfer of a connection of the first communication path to a connection of a second communication path, wherein the second communication path comprises second optical nodes and the end point;
- and
- causing, based on the transfer, the end point to transfer a power supply from the first communication path to the second communication path.

An apparatus comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory storing processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
- determine, based on a first communication path configured for optical communication and switching with linear protection, a fault associated with the first communication path, wherein the first communication path comprises first optical nodes and an end point;
- cause, based on the fault, transfer of a connection of the first communication path to a connection of a second communication path, wherein the second communication path comprises second optical nodes and the end point;
- and
- cause, based on the transfer, the end point to transfer a power supply from the first communication path to the second communication path.

A method comprising:
- determining, based on a first communication path configured for optical communication and switching with linear protection, a fault associated with the first communication path, wherein the first communication path comprises first optical nodes and an end point;
- causing, based on the fault, transfer of a connection of the first communication path to a connection of a second communication path, wherein the second communication path comprises second optical nodes and the end point;
- causing, based on the transfer, the end point to transfer a power supply from the first communication path to the second communication path;
- and
- sending a notification indicating one or more of a location of the fault, a potential cause of the fault, or an estimated time to repair the fault.
