Abstract
A video coding mechanism is disclosed. The mechanism includes partitioning a picture into a plurality of tiles. A number of the tiles are included in a tile group. The mechanism determines whether the tile group is a raster scan tile group or a rectangular tile group. The number of tiles in the tile group is determined based on whether the tile group is the raster scan tile group or the rectangular tile group. The tiles are encoded into a bitstream based on the tile group. The bitstream is stored for communication toward a decoder.
Claims18
A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium storing a bitstream that is generated by an image encoding method with a video coding device, wherein the image encoding method comprises:
- encoding a bitstream comprising a group of tiles in a picture and a picture parameter set containing a flag,
- wherein a raster scan mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture and the group of tiles contains a sequence of tiles in raster scan order when the flag is equal to zero,
- wherein a rectangular mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture and the group of tiles contains a number of tiles in a rectangular region of the picture when the flag is equal to one,
- wherein whether a layout of the group of tiles is signaled is based on whether the raster scan mode or the rectangular mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture, and
- wherein the group of tiles is coded based on the layout of the group of tiles as indicated by the flag.
An encoder comprising:
- a memory with stored instructions;
- and
- one or more processors coupled to the memory and configured to:
- encode a bitstream comprising a group of tiles in a picture and a picture parameter set containing a flag, wherein a raster scan mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture and the group of tiles contains a sequence of tiles in raster scan order when the flag is equal to zero, wherein a rectangular mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture and the group of tiles contains a number of tiles in a rectangular region of the picture when the flag is equal to one, wherein whether a layout of the group of tiles is signaled is based on whether the raster scan mode or the rectangular mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture, and wherein the group of tiles is coded based on the layout of the group of tiles as indicated by the flag.
A decoder comprising:
- a memory with stored instructions;
- and
- one or more processors coupled to the memory and configured to:
- receive a bitstream comprising a group of tiles in a picture and a picture parameter set containing a flag, wherein a raster scan mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture and the group of tiles contains a sequence of tiles in raster scan order when the flag is equal to zero, and wherein a rectangular mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture and the group of tiles contains a number of tiles in a rectangular region of the picture when the flag is equal to one, and wherein whether a layout of the group of tiles is signaled is based on whether the raster scan mode or the rectangular mode is in use for the group of tiles in the picture;
- and
- decode the group of tiles based on the layout of the group of tiles as indicated by the flag.
