Abstract
Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system and a method for performing operations comprising: receiving, by a messaging application implemented on a client device of a first user, input comprising a message directed to a second user; in response to receiving the input, obtaining contextual information associated with the message; identifying, based on the contextual information, a plurality of sounds representing the message; receiving a selection from the first user of a given sound of the plurality of sounds; and sending the given sound to the second user in response to receiving the selection of the given sound received from the first user.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- displaying an alert that a given sound is associated with a message without revealing contents of the given sound, the given sound being received from a device of a user;
- displaying, at a display position, an avatar of the user of the device from which the given sound was received before revealing the contents of the given sound and without presenting sound information corresponding to the given sound;
- receiving input that selects the avatar;
- and
- in response to receiving the input that selects the avatar:
- retrieving the sound information for the given sound;
- replacing display of the avatar with display, at the display position, of the retrieved sound information;
- and
- initiating playback of the given sound.
A system comprising:
- at least one processor configured to perform operations comprising:
- displaying an alert that a given sound is associated with a message without revealing contents of the given sound, the given sound being received from a device of a user;
- displaying, at a display position, an avatar of the user of the device from which the given sound was received before revealing the contents of the given sound;
- and
- displaying, at a display position, an avatar of the user of the device from which the given sound was received before revealing the contents of the given sound and without presenting sound information corresponding to the given sound;
- receiving input that selects the avatar;
- and
- in response to receiving the input that selects the avatar:
- retrieving the sound information for the given sound;
- replacing display of the avatar with display, at the display position, of the retrieved sound information;
- and
- initiating playback of the given sound.
A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium that includes instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
- displaying an alert that a given sound is associated with a message without revealing contents of the given sound, the given sound being received from a device of a user;
- displaying, at a display position, an avatar of the user of the device from which the given sound was received before revealing the contents of the given sound;
- and
- displaying, at a display position, an avatar of the user of the device from which the given sound was received before revealing the contents of the given sound and without presenting sound information corresponding to the given sound;
- receiving input that selects the avatar;
- and
- in response to receiving the input that selects the avatar:
- retrieving the sound information for the given sound;
- replacing display of the avatar with display, at the display position, of the retrieved sound information;
- and
- initiating playback of the given sound.
