Abstract
The present invention provides various passive electronic components comprising a layer of coated particles, and methods for producing and using the same. Some of the passive electronic components of the invention include, but are not limited to conductors, resistors, current collectors, capacitors, piezoelectronic devices, inductors and transformers. The present invention also provides energy storage devices and electrode layers for such energy storage devices having passive, electrically-conductive particles coated with one or more thin film materials.
Claims17
A method of making a dielectric or piezoelectric component, comprising:
- providing nanoparticles comprising an alkali niobate perovskite;
- coating the nanoparticles with an alkali tantalate to form coated nanoparticles;
- and
- firing the coated nanoparticles to form the dense component.
A method of forming metal powder, comprising:
- coating the metal powder with a layer of aluminum alkoxide;
- treating the metal powder coated with a layer of aluminum alkoxide with a reducing gas to remove surface oxide and converting the layer of aluminum alkoxide to a porous Al2O3 shell;
- and
- subsequently, coating the treated powder with alumina by ALD to form an alumina layer having a thickness of 2 to 6 nm.
