Abstract
A method, system, and medium are provided for distributing transportation alerts to computing devices in accordance with factors, such as device-specific and location-specific factors. In embodiments of the present invention, travel alerts, including public alerts associated with certain areas, are formatted or held prior to delivery, based on safety concerns, legal requirements, device settings, or other considerations.
Claims20
A method for receiving an alert, the method comprising:
- performing the following in a vehicle in communication with a server:
- sending route information to the server;
- and
- receiving an alert from the server based on traffic-related information related to a particular location further along the route than a current location of the vehicle.
A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon configured to cause the implementation of operations comprising:
- sending route information of a vehicle to a server;
- and
- receiving an alert from the server based on traffic-related information related to a particular location further along the route than a current location of the vehicle.
An apparatus comprising:
- a wireless interface;
- and
- a processor configured to be in communication with the wireless interface and further configured to:
- send route information to a server via the wireless interface;
- and
- receive an alert from the server based on traffic-related information related to a particular location further along the route than a current location of the apparatus.
