Human-computer interface system

A system comprising:

• a substrate comprising:
• an aperture extending from a top side to a bottom side of the substrate;
• a first multi-layer inductor encircling the aperture;
• a bottom layer:
• arranged below the first multi-layer inductor;
• and
• comprising a set of force sense electrodes located proximal a perimeter of the substrate;
• a cover layer:
• arranged over the substrate;
• and
• cooperating with the aperture of the substrate to define a housing;
• fingerprint reader:
• arranged within the housing;
• and
• configured to permeate through the cover layer to scan a fingerprint applied over the cover layer;
• a first magnetic element:
• defining a first polarity facing the first multi-layer inductor;
• and
• configured to inductively couple the first multi-layer inductor responsive to application of a force on the cover layer;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• read a first set of electrical values from the set of force sense electrodes;
• interpret a first force magnitude for a first fingerprint input applied on the cover layer based on the first set of electrical values;
• and
• at a first time, in response to the first force magnitude exceeding a target force magnitude:
• read a first set of fingerprint values from the fingerprint reader;
• in response to the first set of fingerprint values deviating from a target set of fingerprint values, trigger a first oscillating voltage across the first multi-layer inductor during a first haptic feedback cycle to induce alternating magnetic coupling between the first multi-layer inductor and the first magnetic element and oscillate the cover layer.

A system comprising:

• a substrate comprising:
• an aperture extending from a top side to a bottom side of the substrate;
• and
• a first multi-layer inductor encircling the aperture;
• a cover layer:
• arranged over the substrate;
• and
• cooperating with the aperture of the substrate to define a housing;
• a touch sensor layer:
• interposed between the substrate and the cover layer;
• and
• comprising a set of drive and sense electrode pairs arranged across the touch sensor layer;
• a fingerprint reader:
• arranged within the housing;
• and
• configured to permeate through the cover layer and the touch sensor layer to scan a fingerprint applied over the cover layer;
• a first magnetic element:
• defining a first polarity facing the first multi-layer inductor;
• and
• configured to inductively couple the first multi-layer inductor responsive to application of a force on the cover layer;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• read a first set of electrical values from the set of drive and sense electrode pairs;
• at a first time, in response to detecting presence of a first touch input on the cover layer based on the first set of electrical values:
• read a first set of fingerprint values from the fingerprint reader;
• generate a first fingerprint image based on the first set of finger print values;
• and
• in response to the first fingerprint image deviating from a target fingerprint image, trigger a first oscillating voltage across the first multi-layer inductor during a first haptic feedback cycle to induce alternating magnetic coupling between the first multi-layer inductor and the first magnetic element and oscillate the cover layer.
