Abstract
Portable apparatus for identifying and mitigating defects in electronic devices disposed on substrates or windows are disclosed herein. Such defects can be visually perceived by the end user. The substrates or windows may include flat panel displays, photovoltaic windows, electrochromic devices, and the like, particularly electrochromic windows.
Claims22
A vacuum engagement system for affixing a portable defect mitigator to a window surface, the vacuum engagement system comprising:
- two or more recessed regions in a surface of the portable defect mitigator;
- a circumferential groove around each recessed region of the two or more recessed regions;
- and
- a sealing member configured to fit within the circumferential groove of each recessed region;
- wherein the two or more recessed regions are configured to form separate vacuum chambers at the window surface during operation.
An apparatus for controlling mitigation of one or more defects in an electronic device of a window using a portable defect mitigator having a vacuum engagement system and a laser, the apparatus comprising:
- at least one controller operably coupled to a plurality of valves of the vacuum engagement system and to the laser, the at least one controller configured to:
- affix the portable defect mitigator to a surface of the window by independently controlling the plurality of valves to create a suction force in separate vacuum chambers formed in two or more recessed regions in a surface of the portable defect mitigator, the separate vacuum chambers formed using sealing members within circumferential grooves around the two or more recessed regions;
- and
- control mitigation of the one or more defects at least by application of the laser.
