Abstract
A deflector for a diffusor of a gas generator of an airbag module is disclosed. The deflector comprises a substantially tubular deflector base body and a gas discharge device connected thereto, wherein the gas discharge device has a substantially rectangular base and two outflow regions on opposite sidewalls so that gas can flow substantially in opposite directions along the longitudinal axes of the tubular deflector base body out of the interior of the gas discharge device to the outside.
Claims15
A deflector for a diffusor of a gas generator of an airbag module,
- comprising a substantially tubular deflector base body and a gas discharge device connected thereto,
- wherein the gas discharge device includes a substantially rectangular base and two outflow regions on opposite sidewalls so that gas can flow substantially in opposite directions along a longitudinal axis of the tubular deflector base body from an interior of the gas discharge device to an outside area;
- and
- wherein the deflector base body is integrally connected to the gas discharge device and the outflow regions are disposed in two deflector tabs of the gas discharge device which can be positioned relative to an axis being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis so that a respective discharge angle can be set between 0° and 35°.
A diffusor-deflector assembly group for a gas generator, comprising:
- a diffusor having a substantially tubular base body with a longitudinal axis,
- a baffle cap connected to the base body at a first end of the base body, a connecting device configured at a second end opposite to the first end of the base body, wherein at least one opening is formed in a wall of the tubular base body, and, and
- a deflector for a diffusor of a gas generator of an airbag module, comprising a substantially tubular deflector base body and a gas discharge device connected thereto, wherein the gas discharge device includes a substantially rectangular base and two outflow regions on opposite sidewalls so that gas can flow substantially in opposite directions along a longitudinal axis of the tubular deflector base body from an interior of the gas discharge device to an outside area, the deflector having deflector tabs,
- wherein an outer diameter of the base body of the diffusor is slightly smaller than an inner diameter of the deflector, the outer diameter of the base body of the diffusor and the inner diameter of the deflector being positively adapted to each other.
A method for manufacturing a deflector for a diffusor of a gas generator of an airbag module, comprising the following steps of:
- a. providing a tubular deflector base body having a predetermined inner diameter and a first end and a second end,
- b. forming a profile in a circumferential tube section of the deflector base body by application of a profile tool by pressing or pulling the profile tool from an inner face of the deflector base body against a wall of the deflector base body in a radial direction,
- c. producing through-holes in an area of the profile and producing a curved cutout at each of opposite ends of the profile,
- d. cutting the profile in the axial direction from first and second ends of the profile up to a predetermined length by two cuts spaced apart from each other so that a deflector tab is produced at each of the two ends of the profile, and
- e. bending both deflector tabs radially inward to an angle of from 0° to 35° with respect to a radial direction.
