Abstract
An article comprising: a carrier (12), activatable material (14) disposed on the carrier, one or more carrier extensions (16) extending from the carrier; wherein the article is adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within a structure's cavity.
Claims20
An article comprising:
- (a) a carrier having a longitudinal axis, including a first end and a second end, and being flexible, the carrier comprising:
- (1) a central portion between the first end and the second end which extends parallel relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier;
- (2) a first fastener integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion and biased toward the first end;
- (3) a second fastener integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion and biased toward the second end, the second fastener being longitudinally spaced apart from the first fastener relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier;
- (4) at least one pair of extensions integrally formed with, and extending from the central portion, wherein the at least one pair of extensions extend away from the central portion in an opposite direction of the first fastener and the second fastener, and wherein the at least one pair of extensions diverge away from each other;
- and
- (5) a plurality of other extensions integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion, wherein the plurality of other extensions extend away from the central portion in a same direction as the first fastener and the second fastener;
- and
- (b) an activatable material disposed on the carrier, wherein the activatable material extends beyond the first end, the second end, or both of the carrier longitudinally relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier;
- wherein the first fastener and the second fastener each have a first portion which is integrally formed with the central portion and extends away from the central portion and the activatable material, and a second portion integrally formed with and which angles away from the first portion toward the central portion such that the first portion and the second portion form a V-shape;
- wherein the second portion of the first fastener angles away from the first portion toward the first end while the second portion of the second fastener angles away from the second portion toward the second end;
- wherein the first fastener and the second fastener are each flanked by two or more of the plurality of other extensions;
- and
- wherein the article is adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within a cavity of a structure of an automotive vehicle.
11 more elements
An article comprising:
- (a) a carrier having a longitudinal axis, a first surface opposite a second surface, and being flexible, the carrier having:
- (i) a central portion extending parallel relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier;
- (ii) a first fastener integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion, wherein the first fastener extends from the second surface of the carrier;
- (iii) a second fastener integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion, wherein the second fastener extends from the second surface of the carrier, wherein the second fastener is longitudinally spaced apart from the first fastener relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier, and wherein the first fastener and the second fastener adapt to varying distances between receiving holes within a cavity of a structure by flexing of the carrier;
- and
- (iv) a curved portion formed between the central portion and a first end of the carrier and/or a second end of the carrier;
- and
- (b) an activatable material disposed on the carrier, wherein the activatable material is disposed on the first surface;
- wherein the first fastener and the second fastener each have a first portion which is integrally formed with the central portion and extends away from the central portion and the activatable material, and a second portion integrally formed with the first portion and which angles away from the first portion toward the central portion such that the first portion and the second portion form a V-shape;
- wherein the second portion of the first fastener angles away from the first portion toward the first end of the carrier while the second portion of the second fastener angles away from the second portion toward the second end of the carrier, wherein the first end and the second end are on opposing ends of the carrier relative to the longitudinal axis;
- and
- wherein the article is adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within a structure's cavity.
9 more elements
An article comprising:
- (a) a carrier having a longitudinal axis, having a first end and a second end, and being flexible, wherein the carrier includes:
- (i) a central portion between the first end and the second end which extends parallel relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier,
- (ii) a curved portion between the central portion and the first end or between the central portion and the second end;
- (iii) a first fastener integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion;
- (iv) a second fastener integrally formed with, and extending from, the central portion, wherein the first fastener and the second fastener are longitudinally spaced apart relative to the longitudinal axis of the carrier, and wherein the first fastener and the second fastener adapt to varying distances between receiving holes within a cavity of a structure by flexing of the carrier;
- (iv) a plurality of extensions integrally formed with and extending from the central portions, wherein the plurality of extension extend away from the central portion in a same direction as the first fastener and the second fastener;
- and
- (b) an activatable material disposed on the carrier;
- wherein the first fastener and the second fastener are each flanked by two or more of the plurality of extension;
- and
- wherein the article is configured as an extruded profile and adapted to provide sealing, baffling, or reinforcement within a structure's cavity.
