Pool filter assembly

A pool filter system, comprising:

• a filter housing 204 having an open upper end;
• a detachable lid 208 capable of sealingly closing the open upper end of the filter housing;
• an inlet conduit 218 extending through a sidewall of the housing;
• an outlet conduit 222 extending through the sidewall of the housing;
• a plurality of elongated pleated filter containers 210 including openings 214 to permit the passage of water through a sidewall thereof, disposed within the housing extending from a lower end of the housing toward the open upper end;
• a pleated filter element 240 having an upper open end and being disposed within each of the plurality of pleated filter containers;
• a particulate media 230 disposed within the housing and external of, and surrounding the plurality elongated pleated filter containers;
• a distribution manifold 226 with a plurality of openings 228 encircling an upper end of the plurality of elongated pleated filter containers, and being in fluid communication with the inlet conduit to distribute incoming water to be filtered to the interior of the filter housing;
• and
• a water exhaust manifold 246 in fluid communication with each of the upper open ends of the pleated filter elements for receiving filtrate, and in fluid communication with the outlet conduit to permit filtrate to exit the filter housing;
• wherein, water to be filtered is introduced into the housing through the inlet conduit, is distributed by the distribution manifold, passes through the particulate media and pleated filter elements, and through the exhaust manifold to the outlet conduit.
