Abstract
Systems and methods for non-invasive fat reduction can include targeting a region of interest below a surface of skin, which contains fat and delivering ultrasound energy to the region of interest. The ultrasound energy generates a thermal lesion with said ultrasound energy on a fat cell. The lesion can create an opening in the surface of the fat cell, which allows the draining of a fluid out of the fat cell and through the opening. In addition, by applying ultrasound energy to fat cells to increase the temperature to between 43 degrees and 49 degrees, cell apoptosis can be realized, thereby resulting in reduction of fat.
Claims20
An ultrasound probe, comprising:
- a piezoelectric ultrasound transducer,
- wherein the piezoelectric ultrasound transducer delivers ultrasound energy at a frequency,
- wherein the piezoelectric ultrasound transducer is configured for delivering the ultrasound energy at a temperature to coagulate a fat cells in one or more fat lobuli at a depth under a superficial layer of skin,
- wherein the piezoelectric ultrasound transducer is configured for acoustic coupling to the superficial layer of skin,
- wherein the piezoelectric ultrasound transducer forms a thermal coagulation region at the depth for coagulating the fat cells in the one or more fat lobuli.
An ultrasound probe, comprising:
- a piezoelectric ultrasound transducer and a cooling system,
- wherein the piezoelectric ultrasound transducer delivers ultrasound energy at a frequency,
- wherein the piezoelectric ultrasound transducer is configured for delivery of ultrasound energy at a temperature to coagulate fat cells in fat lobuli at one or more depths under a superficial layer of skin to coagulate the fat cells,
- wherein the cooling system is configured to cool the superficial layer of skin.
An ultrasound probe, comprising:
- one or more piezoelectric ultrasound therapy transducers configured for acoustic coupling to a superficial layer of skin;
- wherein the one or more piezoelectric ultrasound therapy transducers is configured for delivery of ultrasound energy to a region of interest under the superficial layer of skin,
- wherein the one or more piezoelectric ultrasound therapy transducer is configured to coagulate a fat lobuli at one or more depths under the superficial layer of skin,
- wherein the one or more piezoelectric ultrasound therapy transducers forms a thermal lesion at the fat lobuli at the one or more depths for reducing an appearance of fat.
