Abstract
Provided herein are methods and compositions related to treating or preventing seizures. In some aspects, provided herein are methods of treating or preventing seizures in a subject by administering to the subject a composition comprising Parabacteroides and Akkermansia bacteria.

A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- a. Akkermansia muciniphila bacteria;
- and
- b. Parabacteroides merdae bacteria,
- wherein the Akkermansia muciniphila bacteria and the Parabacteroides merdae bacteria are in a live state and are present in a ratio of 2:1.

A pharmaceutical composition in capsule form, comprising:
- a. dried Akkermansia muciniphila bacteria;
- and
- b. dried Parabacteroides merdae bacteria,
- wherein the Akkermansia muciniphila bacteria and the Parabacteroides merdae bacteria are in a live state and are present in a ratio of 2:1.
