System and method for scanning for a second object within a first object using an adaptive scheduler

A method for scanning at least one object by an ultrasound system, the method comprising:

• receiving a plurality of beam firing task actions including a first beam firing task action required for a first object to be scanned, and a second beam firing task action required for a second object on or within the first object to be scanned;
• updating at least one task list based on the received plurality of beam firing task actions, wherein the updated at least one task list includes the first beam firing task action and the second beam firing task action;
• determining whether the first beam firing task action interferes with a first higher priority task action in the at least one task list, the first higher priority task action having a priority level higher than a priority level of the first beam firing task action;
• if it is determined that the first beam firing task action interferes with the first higher priority task action in the at least one task list, modifying a start of the first beam firing task action, and
• if it is determined that the first beam firing task action does not interfere with the first higher priority task action in the at least one task list, starting the first beam firing task action by generating and sending a first signal to a first probe unit to perform a first beam firing to scan for the first object.
