Abstract
Provided is a compound which allows realization of a lubricant having high adsorbability and a high covering property with respect to a magnetic disk, particularly a carbon protective film. A perfluoropolyether compound in accordance with an aspect of the present invention has a naphthyl group or a phenoxyphenyl group at any one of terminals thereof.

A flourine-containing ether compound represented by the following formula (1):
- R1—OCH2CH(OH)CH2OCH2—R2-R3 (1)
- wherein:
- R1 is a naphthyl group represented by C10H7— or a phenoxyphenyl group represented by C6H5—OC6H4—;
- R2 is —(CF2)x(CF(CF3))yO(CF2O)z(CF2CF2O)l(CF2CF2CF2O)m(CF2CF2CF2CF2O)n(CF(CF3)CF2O)o(CF(CF3))y(CF2)x—, wherein x is a real number of 0 to 3, y is a real number of 0 to 1, z, l, m, n, and o are each independently a real number of 0 to 15, and any one of x and y is a real number of 1 or more and at least any one of z, l, m, n, and o is a real number of 1 or more;
- and
- R3 is a hydrocarbon group having a naphthyl group represented by —CH2OCH2CH(OH)CH2O—C10H7, a hydrocarbon group having a phenoxyphenyl group represented by —CH2OCH2CH(OH)CH2O—C6H4—OC6H5, a hydrocarbon group having a methoxyphenyl group represented by —CH2OCH2CH(OH)CH2O—C6H4—OMe, or —CH2O(CH2CH(OH)CH2O)tH or —(CF2)uCF3, wherein t is a real number of 0 to 5 and u is a real number of 0 to 3.
