Abstract
A gantry for thermal management is disclosed, including: a heat generating component that includes a top surface and a bottom surface; a heat sink; a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material that is in direct contact with the heat sink; and a gantry extending above the heat generating component, wherein the gantry pushes a pin against the top surface of the heat generating component such that the bottom surface of the heat generating component is pushed against the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material.
Claims23
A thermal management system, comprising:
- a heat generating component that includes a top surface and a bottom surface;
- a heat sink;
- a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material that is in direct contact with the heat sink;
- and
- a gantry extending above the heat generating component, wherein the gantry pushes a pin against the top surface of the heat generating component such that the bottom surface of the heat generating component is pushed against the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material, wherein a tip of the pin engages a recess on the top surface of the heat generating component.
A thermal management system, comprising:
- a heat generating component that includes a top surface and a bottom surface;
- a heat sink;
- a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material that is in direct contact with the heat sink, wherein the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material comprises at least one of a thermal interface material and a thermally conductive solid, wherein the thermally conductive solid comprises one of aluminum nitride, diamond, and aluminum beryllium oxide;
- and
- a gantry extending above the heat generating component, wherein the gantry pushes a pin against the top surface of the heat generating component such that the bottom surface of the heat generating component is pushed against the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material.
A thermal management system, comprising:
- a heat generating component that includes a top surface and a bottom surface;
- a heat sink;
- a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material that is in direct contact with the heat sink, wherein the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material conducts heat at greater than 100 W/(meter*K);
- and
- a gantry extending above the heat generating component, wherein the gantry pushes a pin against the top surface of the heat generating component such that the bottom surface of the heat generating component is pushed against the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material.
A thermal management system, comprising:
- a heat generating component that includes a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the heat generating component is at 600 volts;
- a heat sink;
- a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material that is in direct contact with the heat sink;
- and
- a gantry extending above the heat generating component, wherein the gantry pushes a pin against the top surface of the heat generating component such that the bottom surface of the heat generating component is pushed against the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material.
A thermal management system, comprising:
- a heat generating component that includes a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the heat generating component is coupled to a cassette;
- a heat sink;
- a thermally conductive and electrically insulating material that is in direct contact with the heat sink;
- and
- a gantry extending above the heat generating component, wherein the gantry pushes a pin against the top surface of the heat generating component such that the bottom surface of the heat generating component is pushed against the thermally conductive and electrically insulating material.
