Abstract
The present invention provides for certain sulfonyl ureas and related compounds which have advantageous properties and show useful activity in the inhibition of activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Such compounds are useful in the treatment of a wide range of disorders in which the inflammation process, or more specifically the NLRP3 inflammasome, have been implicated as being a key factor.
Claims12
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent and/or excipient, wherein the compound is
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof.
A method of treatment or prevention of a disease, disorder or condition in a subject, including the step of administering an effective amount of a compound to the subject to thereby treat or prevent the disease, disorder or condition, wherein the disease, disorder or condition is:
- (a) responsive to inhibition of activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, and/or
- (b) responsive to modulation of one or more of IL-1β, IL-17, IL-18, IL-1α, IL-37, IL-33 and Th17 cells,
- and wherein the compound is
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof.
A method of diagnosing a disease, disorder or condition in a mammal including the step of administering a labelled compound or a metal ion chelate complex thereof, to the mammal or to a biological sample obtained from the mammal to facilitate diagnosis of the disease, disorder or condition in the mammal, wherein the compound is
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof.
A method of modulating the activity of a biological target comprising the step of exposing the biological target to a compound, wherein the compound is
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate or prodrug thereof.
