Abstract
Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing improved lighting components for a lighting element. A lighting element might include a cover. The cover might include a wall having an outer surface and an inner surface. The cover might further include one or more voids located between the outer surface and the inner surface of the wall. The cover and voids may be formed via one or more three-dimensional (“3D”) printing processes.

A lighting element comprising:
- a lampshade, the lampshade comprising:
- a lampshade wall comprising an inner surface, an outer surface attached to the inner surface, and one or more voids located between the inner surface and the outer surface of the wall, wherein the wall comprises a plurality of printed layers printed on top of each other in a vertical direction, wherein the inner surface comprises a first plurality of the plurality printed layers and the outer surface comprises a second plurality of the plurality of printed layers and the voids are areas between the inner surface and the outer surface where the plurality of printed layers are not deposited.
A lighting element comprising:
- a light source;
- a lampshade, the lampshade comprising:
- a wall comprising an inner surface, an outer surface attached to the inner surface, and one or more voids located between the inner surface and the outer surface of the wall, wherein the wall comprises a plurality of printed layers printed on top of each other in a vertical direction, wherein the inner surface comprises a first plurality of the plurality printed layers and the outer surface comprises a second plurality of the plurality of printed layers and the voids are areas between the inner surface and the outer surface where the plurality of printed layers are not deposited;
- and
- a connector attached to the lampshade and the light source, the connector comprising:
- a conductive element extending through the connector and configured to provide an electrical connection to the light source.

A method of manufacturing comprising:
- forming a wall of a lampshade, wherein forming the wall of the lampshade comprises:
- forming an inner surface of the wall;
- forming an outer surface of the wall attached to the inner surface of the wall;
- and
- forming one or more voids between the inner surface and the outer surface of the wall, wherein the wall comprises a plurality of printed layers printed on top of each other in a vertical direction, wherein the inner surface comprises a first plurality of the plurality printed layers and the outer surface comprises a second plurality of the plurality of printed layers and the voids are areas between the inner surface and the outer surface where the plurality of printed layers are not deposited.
