Abstract
An outboard propulsion system comprising an engine configured to receive oil; an oil pan configured to receive oil from the engine; and an oil reservoir configured to receive oil from the oil pan and provide oil to the engine, in use.
Claims25
An outboard propulsion system comprising:
- an engine having a crankshaft, wherein the engine is configured to receive oil;
- a transmission assembly configured to receive motive power from the engine via at least one drive shaft operably coupled to the crankshaft, wherein the at least one drive shaft comprises an input drive shaft;
- an oil pan configured to receive oil from the engine;
- and
- an oil reservoir configured to receive oil from the oil pan and provide oil to the engine, in use;
- wherein the transmission assembly comprises an oil transfer pump configured to pump oil from the oil pan to the oil reservoir;
- wherein the transmission assembly is configured to provide motive power to the oil transfer pump via a pump shaft that is located within the transmission assembly;
- and
- wherein the pump shaft is operably coupled to the crankshaft via the input drive shaft.
6 more elements
An outboard propulsion system comprising:
- a first portion for attachment to a boat, wherein the first portion comprises:
- an engine having a crankshaft, wherein the engine is configured to receive oil;
- a transmission assembly configured to receive motive power from the engine via at least one drive shaft operably coupled to the crankshaft;
- an oil pan configured to receive oil from the engine;
- and
- an oil reservoir configured to receive oil from the oil pan and provide oil to the engine, in use;
- wherein the transmission assembly comprises an oil transfer pump configured to pump oil from the oil pan to the oil reservoir;
- wherein the transmission assembly is configured to provide motive power to the oil transfer pump via a pump shaft that is located within the transmission assembly;
- and
- a second portion attached to the first portion, wherein the second portion comprises a propeller shaft operably connected to the crankshaft via a drop shaft that is operably connected between the transmission assembly and the propeller shaft, and wherein the drop shaft is substantially perpendicular to the propeller shaft.
7 more elements
An outboard propulsion system comprising:
- an engine having a crankshaft, wherein the engine is configured to receive oil;
- a transmission assembly configured to receive motive power from the engine via at least one drive shaft operably coupled to the crankshaft;
- an oil pan configured to receive oil from the engine;
- and
- an oil reservoir configured to receive oil from the oil pan and provide oil to the engine, in use;
- wherein the transmission assembly comprises an oil transfer pump configured to pump oil from the oil pan to the oil reservoir;
- wherein the transmission assembly is configured to provide motive power to the oil transfer pump via a pump shaft that is located within the transmission assembly;
- and
- wherein the at least one drive shaft is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the crankshaft.
