A method of preventing or reducing the incidence of health impairments and complaints arising from the ingestion by a human subject of fructose or fructose-containing foodstuffs or substances from which fructose is released in the human digestive tract, the method comprising the oral administration to the subject of a glucose isomerase in an amount effective to convert fructose into glucose in the digestive tract of the subject.
A method of preventing or reducing in a subject the occurrence of symptoms that are (i) caused by the intake of fructose or fructose containing foodstuffs, or (ii) due to the release of fructose in the digestive tract of said subject from other substances, wherein said occurrence of symptoms can be prevented or reduced by the conversion of fructose to glucose in the gastrointestinal tract of said subject by a glucose isomerase, the method comprising administering to said subject in need of such prevention or reduction an effective amount of a glucose isomerase.
