Abstract
Logic mechanisms operate to define the position of at least one mechanical output based on the position of two or more mechanical inputs, and employ at least one control element that functions to determine (at least in part) whether an output is moved, and which provides the same function in more than one position. Some mechanisms are configured to determine, based on the input positions, whether a path to transmit motion to an output exists or does not exist. Some mechanisms are configured to determine, based on the input positions, whether or not motion of a driven element can be accommodated without moving an output.
Claims6
A logic mechanism comprising:
- a driven element;
- two mechanical outputs that define different values;
- at least two mechanical inputs, wherein said driven element is displaced sequentially to positioning said inputs;
- and
- at least one control element positioned by said inputs, said control element(s) interacting with at least one of said driven element and said outputs to determine, based on the position(s) of said control element(s), which of said outputs motion of said driven element is transmitted to, and wherein at least one of said control element(s) provides the same mechanical effect in making such determination when said control element is in more than one position.
