Abstract
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for transforming soybean, corn, cotton, or canola explants using spectinomycin as a selective agent for transformation of the explants. The method may further comprise treatment of the explants with cytokinin during the transformation and regeneration process.
Claims22
A method of producing a transgenic plant comprising:
- (a) preparing a dry meristematic explant from a dry plant seed,
- (b) pre-culturing the dry meristematic explant prior to transformation in a liquid medium composition for 1-5 days;
- and
- (c) transforming the explant with a heterologous nucleic acid sequence to produce transformed cells comprising the heterologous nucleic acid sequence.
