Abstract
A radio-frequency front-end architecture can include a quadplexer configured to support uplink carrier aggregation with a first antenna. The quadplexer can include a low-band filter, a mid-band filter, a first high-band filter, and a second high-band filter, with each filter having a respective input node, and the quadplexer including a common output node associated with the first antenna. The front-end architecture can further include a triplexer configured to support uplink carrier aggregation with a second antenna. The triplexer can include a mid-band filter, a first high-band filter, and a second high-band filter, with each filter having a respective input node, and the triplexer including a common output node associated with the second antenna.
Claims15
A method for multiplexing, the method comprising:
- providing a multiplexer to support carrier aggregation with a common antenna, the multiplexer including a low-band filter, a mid-band filter, a first high-band filter, and a second high-band filter, each filter having a respective input node, the multiplexer further including a common output node associated with the common antenna;
- and
- performing one or more transmit operations including a low-band transmit operation with a low-band power amplifier with a switchably selected one of a plurality of low-band frequency bands such that an output of the low-band power amplifier is provided to the input node of the low-band filter without a switch, a mid-band transmit operation with a mid-band power amplifier with a switchably selected one of a plurality of mid-band frequency bands such that an output of the mid-band power amplifier is provided to the input node of the mid-band filter without a switch, a first high-band transmit operation with a high-band power amplifier with a switchably selected one of a plurality of high-band frequency bands such that a first output of the high-band power amplifier is provided to the input node of the first high-band filter without a switch, and a second high-band transmit operation with the high-band power amplifier with another switchably selected one of the plurality of high-band frequency bands such that a second output of the high-band power amplifier is provided to the input node of the second high-band filter without a switch.
A method for operating a front-end, the method comprising:
- operating one or more of a low-band power amplifier, a mid-band power amplifier and a high-band power amplifier;
- and
- performing multiplexing operation to support carrier aggregation with an antenna, such that a low-band filter is coupled to an output of the low-band power amplifier without a switch, a mid-band filter is coupled to an output of the mid-band power amplifier without a switch, a first high-band filter is coupled to a first output of the high-band power amplifier without a switch, a second high-band filter is coupled to a second output of the high-band power amplifier without a switch, and a common output node of the low-band, mid-band and high-band power amplifiers is coupled to the antenna.
A method for operating a wireless device, the method comprising:
- providing a transceiver;
- providing an antenna;
- and
- performing a transmit operation including operating one or more of a low-band power amplifier, a mid-band power amplifier and a high-band power amplifier, the transmit operation further including performing multiplexing operation to support carrier aggregation with the antenna, such that a low-band filter is coupled to an output of the low-band power amplifier without a switch, a mid-band filter is coupled to an output of the mid-band power amplifier without a switch, a first high-band filter is coupled to a first output of the high-band power amplifier without a switch, a second high-band filter is coupled to a second output of the high-band power amplifier without a switch, and a common output node of the low-band, mid-band and high-band power amplifiers is coupled to the antenna.
