Artificial turf fiber with a non-circular cladding

An artificial turf fiber comprising at least one monofilament, each of the at least one monofilament comprising a cylindrical solid core and a cladding,

• the solid core comprising a core polymer and thread regions formed by a thread polymer, the thread regions being embedded in the core polymer,
• the cladding being formed by a cladding polymer, the cladding surrounding the solid core and having a non-circular profile, the cladding polymer being miscible with the core polymer,
• the cladding forming two protrusions which extend from the solid core, wherein a profile of each protrusion includes a smooth side and an undulated side opposite the smooth side, wherein the undulated sides of the two protrusions enclose an angle between 100 degree and 180 degrees,
• the cladding further forming two smooth circular sections on opposite sides of the solid core,
• the smooth side profile of each protrusion being a concave smooth side, and
• the concave smooth side of a first protrusion of the two protrusions connected to the concave smooth side of a second protrusion of the two protrusions via a smooth circular section of the two smooth circular sections of the cladding.
