Abstract
This electrode catalyst of the present invention contains an electrically conductive material that supports a metal or a metal oxide, wherein electrical conductivity at 30° C. is 1×10−13 Scm−1 or greater.
Claims2
A method for producing an α-keto acid,
- the method comprising a step of using an alcohol as a raw material and using an electrode catalyst comprising an electrically conductive material carrying an alloy and having an electrical conductivity at 30° C. of 1×10−13 Scm−1 or more to carry out an electrochemical oxidation reaction of said alcohol,
- wherein said alcohol is a secondary alcohol, and the secondary alcohol is a hydroxycarboxylic acid that is a substituent at an α-position of a carboxyl group, and
- wherein said alloy comprises two or more transition metals.
A method for producing a pyruvic acid,
- the method comprising a step of using an alcohol as a raw material and using an electrode catalyst comprising an electrically conductive material carrying an alloy and having an electrical conductivity at 30° C. of 1×10−13 Scm−1 or more to carry out an electrochemical oxidation reaction of said alcohol,
- wherein said alcohol is a secondary alcohol, and the secondary alcohol is a hydroxycarboxylic acid that is a substituent at an α-position of a carboxyl group, and
- wherein said alloy comprises two or more transition metals.
