Abstract
Methods for reducing scale deposition are provided. An exemplary method for reducing scale in an oilfield facility includes contacting a metallic surface with a production fluid including a film-forming surfactant selected from imidazolines, imidazolidines, amidoamines, isoxazolidines, fatty amines, α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, salts thereof, and combinations thereof, the production fluid including the film-forming surfactant in a concentration of at least about 200 ppm.
Claims25
A method for reducing scale in an oilfield facility, the method comprising contacting a metallic surface with a production fluid comprising a film-forming surfactant, wherein the film-forming surfactant comprises:
- an imidazoline or a salt thereof;
- and
- an alkoxylated fatty amine or a salt thereof;
- wherein a concentration of the imidazoline or salt thereof in the production fluid is about 200 ppm to about 1,000 ppm, and a concentration of the alkoxylated fatty amine or salt thereof in the production fluid is about 200 ppm to about 1,000 ppm.
A method for forming and transporting a production fluid, the method comprising:
- injecting a film-forming surfactant into a subterranean formation comprising water to form the production fluid;
- and then
- transporting the production fluid through production tubing comprising a metallic inner surface;
- wherein:
- the production fluid comprises the film-forming surfactant and water from the formation;
- the film-forming surfactant comprises an imidazoline or a salt thereof, and an alkoxylated fatty amine or a salt thereof;
- and
- a concentration of the imidazoline or salt thereof in the production fluid is about 200 ppm to about 1,000 ppm, and a concentration of the alkoxylated fatty amine or salt thereof in the production fluid is about 200 ppm to about 1,000 ppm.
