Personal cleansing composition

A personal cleansing composition comprising:

• a) a cationic surfactant comprising an amidoamine
• b) 5 to 15 wt. % cleansing surfactant, and
• c) water,
• wherein:
• the cleansing surfactant contains from 85 to 100% by weight of a combination of betaine surfactant and taurate surfactant, wherein the taurate surfactant is an acyl taurate represented by the general formula:
• R8C(O)N(R9)(CH2)ySO3M (IIIa)
• where R9 is C6 to C30 alkyl,
• y is 2 or 3,
• R9 is hydrogen or methyl, and
• M is a solubilizing cation, and wherein:
• when the composition contains 5 to 6 weight percent of cleansing surfactant, the weight ratio of betaine surfactant to taurate surfactant is from 55:45 to 45:55;
• when composition contains from greater than 6 weight percent to up to 10 weight percent of cleansing surfactant, the weight ratio of betaine surfactant to taurate surfactant is from 80:20:
• to 40:60;
• and
• when the composition contains greater than 10 weight percent of cleansing surfactant, the weight ratio of betaine surfactant to taurate surfactant is from 80:20:
• to 20:80;
• wherein the composition further comprises electrolyte;
• wherein the personal cleansing composition is essentially free of a cationic derivative of guar gum;
• wherein the composition is essentially free of (meth)acrylate polymers and copolymers;
• wherein the composition is essentially free of sulfate surfactant.
