Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). According to various embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for operating a user equipment (UE) supporting carrier aggregation (CA) with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method comprising: detecting a radio link failure (RLF) of the MCG; when the RLF of the MCG is detected, determining whether a transmission to the SCG is suspended; and when the transmission to the SCG is determined to be suspended, initiating a connection re-establishment procedure.

Dependent claims

A method performed by a user equipment (UE) configured with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

detecting a radio link failure (RLF) of the MCG;
identifying whether an SCG transmission is suspended;
in case that the SCG transmission is suspended:
performing a connection re-establishment procedure;
and
in case that the SCG transmission is not suspended:
suspending an MCG transmission for all signaling radio bearers (SRBs) and data radio bearers (DRBs) except SRB0, based on the detected RLF of the MCG;
resetting an MCG medium access control (MAC), based on the detected RLF of the MCG;
in case that a split SRB1 is configured for the UE, transmitting, to a secondary base station associated with the SCG via the split SRB1, information on the RLF of the MCG;
and
in case that an SRB3 is configured for the UE, transmitting, to the secondary base station associated with the SCG via the SRB3, the information on the RLF of the MCG.
